My Questions (song lyrics/poem)

At some point he'll ask,
“Why bother waiting for what won't last?”

I'll say,
I'd wait all day
Just to see you smile.

It's like a ripe banana that won't go bad,
An incredible smile that won't go sad,
The sun that shines and makes me glad,
Not the hate that turns me mad.

And at some point he'll ask again,
“Why bother waiting after the end?”

(but) I'll say that even when the day is long,
I'd wait all day and keep so strong,
Just to see you smile,
At the end of the day.

You know, I'll be honest,
I was surprised,
'Cause when I first saw you,
I was mystified.
Your eyes were nothing like the sun,
They were dark and perfectly done.
They're the type of eyes that could turn a priest away from the light,
After all, what are they if not the endless night?

And at some point he'll ask again,
“Why bother waiting after the end?”

(but) I'll say that even when the day is long,
I'd wait all day and keep so strong,
Just to see you smile,
At the end of the day.

They say every time you fall, you should get back up,
I guess I'm weird because I don't get up.
'Cause every time I fall, I get higher,
Elevated by love's nightly desire,
So don't you see that love is not day,
But it's not night, that's not the way.
Love is both, the night and the day,
Which is exactly why I'll say...

(Say) x4

I'll say that even when the day is long,
I'd wait all day and keep so strong,
Just to see you smile,

I'll say that even when the day is long,
I'd wait all day and keep so strong,
Just to see you smile,
At the end of the day.

At some point he'll ask again,
“Why bother waiting for the end?”
