death on a whim (poem)

the man you knew is tied up and gagged
in a forgotten corner deep in the cement basement
of an abandoned home rigged with explosives.
so long as his heart beats, it is yours to break
but this reflection of mine is almost out of time
the silence is filled with the ticking of a clock
if you act now, you may save him, or doom him,
whichever fate you wish for your toy,
but you must choose, and quick,
before his splattered corpse paints the rubble.
