Kryst (short story beginning/idea)

It was late fall and the wind had swept up all of the leaves, carrying them around without a sense of direction. I had been walking about, watching them spin around in my confusion. “In the end,” I thought, “there is a new beginning.”

I stumbled away and into the deep woods. I had left the city behind me to find my own nature in a world that tries to conform you. Branches snapped under my feet like bear traps, but I remained unharmed. A raven began to dance with the wind in the sky above me. I watched curiously until a voice brought me back to reality.

The voice was elegantly female and as soft as sand. My heart stopped dead in its tracks. I looked down to find a beautiful girl that I knew I would one day marry. Her hair flowed like black water from her head and the soft brown in her eyes calmed my panicked soul. She smiled at me and pet my face playfully.

“You shouldn't come out in the woods alone.” She said, mocking the authorities that denote the natural beauty of the world. I smiled in return and we laughed together. I felt an unfamiliar warmth stirring in my heart, a heart I had forgotten about. Her name was Kryst.

I knew that I couldn't live without her. “Would you ever leave this haven?” I asked her with butterflies in my stomach. She shook her head.

“Life is too important to be wasted on money.” She told me and disappeared farther into the orange and red forest. I took off after her, unaware of what may await me inside.

-------------------------------
This is the beginning of a story that I wrote at a friend's request. She asked that I wrote her a love story and, for some strange reason, I found the inspiration to run through the forest of love.  I am still undecided if I will ever finish it, but finished or not, I dedicate it to my friend, Tanya, as she is the one who asked for it. I hope you enjoyed it. Until next time,
